The successful candidate will work alongside our staff of construction engineers to provide structural engineering solutions to contractors in the heavy civil industry.

Location:
The ideal candidate will be located (or willing to relocate) near our home office in Boulder, CO. We will consider candidates who wish to work remotely from their current location for up to six months before relocating. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work options. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis on existing structures and design temporary supports, falsework and access systems for a variety of bridge dismantling, erection, and other heavy civil construction projects
- Parse existing information from as-built drawings and other records into formats useful in the creation of drawings and calculations.
- Communicate construction details, sequences and requirements effectively by preparing sketches, design drawings, calculations, and other documents
- Communicate preliminary results, design assumptions, planned approaches to solve problems, and schedule updates with internal teams and clients
- Participate in meetings with clients and project team members
- Maintain good relationships with clients using strong interpersonal skills
- Stay up to date with the state of practice, and integrate innovation and technology in design processes
- Assist in training and development of other staff members
- Occasional travel to provide project onsite support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering, though preferred candidates will have a master’s degree with a focus on structural engineering
- 2 to 5 years of experience in the design and/or construction of bridges
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- P.E. license in any state (or have ability to obtain within one year)
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work in a team environment
- Solid organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with current design codes (like AASHTO, AISC and ACI) and structural analysis software (specifically RISA and/or MIDAS)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Sketchup

Salary Range: $64,000 to $79,000
This position is located in Boulder, CO. We will consider candidates that wish to work remotely from their current location for up to six months before relocating. We offer flexible work hours and frequent remote workdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare new drawings and revise existing engineering drawings for a variety of bridge dismantling, erection, and other heavy civil construction projects
- Knowledge of as-builts and ability to understand heavy civil design drawings, as-built drawings, and fabrication drawings
- Work closely with project engineers/project managers in preparing design drawings to carry out and complete a project
- Work on red line markups provided by project managers/project engineers during project delivery
- Participate in meetings with project team members
- Stay up to date with the state of practice, and integrate innovation and technology in design
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Design
- 2+ years of structural design experience with computer-aided software programs such as AutoCAD and good working knowledge of construction documents
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), staying efficient, and ability to work in a team environment
- Solid organizational skills with attention to detail
- Experience with 3D software such as SketchUp preferred but not required
